| Single UserID License |
| This utility program is designed to run as a single
user installation, in other words; it's only necessary to purchase and
install a single WorkPDA Interface Utility product, even if you're running
on a network with more than one user. You should only run this utility
from a single client's workstation. It's also designed to synchronize all
PDA devices from this single workstation. So use the Password feature in
ProServe II to disable other users from starting this utility. This
product will allow you to re-assign this single license just like ProServe
II does, from one client to another if needed. |
| |
| PDA Device UserID License |
| A single PDA Device UserID License allows this
utility to synchronize with a single PDA Device. If you need to
synchronize with more than one PDA device, you will need to purchase
additional licenses. See
purchase options |
| |
| Purpose: |
-
Setup PDA Device Usernames
-
Change PDA Device Usernames
-
Re-Assign Company Number
-
Adjust PDA Device Storage
Limits
-
Activate Additional PDA
Device Licenses
|
 |
| Note: The Company ID button is only made available if
the current company loaded is not the default assigned company. Likewise
the Save button is only available if the loaded company is the
default assignment. |
| |
| When you setup your PDA device you would have
given it a name, that name is what this utility refers to as a PDA Device
Username. There're used to identify PDA Devices during the synchronization
process. These usernames are also used when downloading to each users
Work Orders PDA Sync file and Contacts Sync file. With that
said, it should come to no surprise that changing usernames is not
something you would want to do very often. |

just select QUIT |
| Setup PDA Device Usernames |
-
Simply enter a PDA Device
Username for each Device UserID License you may have.
-
Each Username should match
the PDA devices being used with this utility.
-
Select SAVE when finished..
-
Note: Usernames are
not saved unless they are changed.
|
|
Note: If you're running Setup after Installing a
WorkPDA
Utility Tools Upgrade. It may be necessary to change the
username and then change it back in order to activate it. |
|
|
| Changing PDA Device Usernames |
-
If the PDA Device in question
is still functioning, you should upload.
-
Empty the PDA Device Username
Sync files by running the Download option with Delete options selected.
Check both Work Orders and Contacts. This will remove all records from
that users sync files.
-
Then synchronize with that
PDA Device if it's still functioning to clear it.
-
.......Verify that all
records are removed from that PDA Device in both Work Orders and
Contacts.
-
.......If not, delete
the Work Orders and Contacts forms from that PDA by selecting the header
then "delete form designs" while in the WorkPDA application.
-
Start over at step 2
if step 5 was performed.
-
Then run Setup and change the
PDA Device Username.
|
| Re-Assigning the Company Number |
| Currently this utility is NOT multiple
company compatible. When this utility setup runs for the first time; it
assigns the currently loaded company number to all PDA Device UserID
Licenses. It locks itself into that company number and will only execute
the download and upload procedures within that company number.
Re-assigning the company number can be done but should be done with
caution. |
-
Start ProServe II and load
the current assigned company number.
-
Empty the PDA Device Username
Sync files by running the Download option with Delete options selected.
Check both Work Orders and Contacts. This will remove all records from
that users sync files. .......Do this for all usernames.
-
Then synchronize with each
PDA Device to clear it.
-
.......Verify that all
records are removed from each PDA Device in both Work Orders and
Contacts.
-
.......If not, delete
the Work Orders and Contacts forms from that PDA by selecting the header
then "delete form designs" while in the WorkPDA application.
-
Start over at step 2
if step 5 was performed.
-
Then re-start ProServe II and
load the company number that should be assigned to this utility.
-
Run Setup and select the
Company ID button. This will verify some basic information and allow
you to re-assign the company number.
-
Select the Re-Assign button
to complete this process.

| PDA Storage Limits |
| Use this to set the data storage
limits for the Work Orders and Contacts forms that's stored
on your PDA device. The default for each form is 1000 kb (1mb) of
memory. The WorkPDA application requires about 450 kb and is not included.
Using the defaults; the total memory that could be used is 2450 kb (2.5
MB). Use the chart below to determine what's needed for best performance. |
| Note: The synchronization program will indicate if memory
limits are exceeded. Use this within reason, no need for overkill. Also;
it only uses what's needed and this sets memory limits not memory
allocation. |
|
| Work Orders Storage Limit |
-
500 kb would hold
approximately 250 work order records.
-
Entry limits are: from 1000
to 5000 (kb).
-
Example: 1500kb would hold
approximately 750 records.
|
| Contacts Storage Limit |
-
500 kb would hold
approximately 900 contact records.
-
Entry limits are: from 500 to
5000 (kb).
-
Example: 1500kb would hold
approximately 2700 records.

| Activating PDA Device UserID Licenses |
| Any time you purchase additional licenses;
you will need to run Setup. This will add and activate additional PDA
Device UserID Licenses and allow you to setup a Username for each. This
utility will remind you after you install additional licenses to run this
process. |
