Installation Procedure
 
   Before you install the WorkPDA Utility Tools you should make sure all the items below are True! If any are not true; then you should not install this utility.
 
  • Is your computer running a Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system?
  • Are you running ProServe II v2.01b or higher in either US or UK version? If not you can download updates at support.

  • Is your PDA Device and Software installed and working properly?
  • Is your PDA Device running a Palm or Pocket PC operating system?
  • Have you registered and received a Installation Password? If NOT, register now.
The WorkPDA Utility Tools is installed in two stages:
  • Stage I, checks system environment, installs the basic folders and components to prepare for the 2nd stage.

  • Stage II, runs silent and completes the installation and requires a re-start.

Installing WorkPDA Utility Tools
  1. This installation requires a system re-start, so you should close all programs before starting. NOTE: programs running in background should be okay.

Starting from Download  (if you downloaded WorkPDA Utility Tools)
  • Locate the download file called WorkPDA.exe and double click it.

  • Start at Step 2

Starting from ProServe II CD (If you have the CD)
  • Place the ProServe II CD in your CD drive.

  • Important: If the auto-run starts an installation program, CANCEL it.. This is the ProServe II installation program and it's not what we will be installing.

  • Select the Start button.

  • Select the RUN option.

  • Type   n:\WorkPDA\WorkPDA.exe    ( n = your CD Drive letter) in the command.

  • Select OK this should start the installation program. Start at Step 2

Step 2...  Stage I  A valid installation password is required to install this software.
  1. Enter the Installation Password given to you via email or by phone. See above

Tip: If you're upgrading and the password is not working, then you're installing the old download. Make sure you're double clicking the latest WorkPDA.exe download. Some browsers and setups may keep the download from being overwritten. In that case it may rename it something like WorkPDA(2).exe or WorkPDA Copy(2).exe.  Run a Search on WorkPDA*.exe and see if that's the case.
 
  1. Please read the License Agreement carefully, you must select I Agree in order to install this software.

 
  1. Follow prompts through the next few screens.

  2. Important: leave this option below set to Anyone who uses this computer

 
  1. Important: leave option Launch the program check box ON

  2. Select Finish, this will start Stage II

Note: If you do not Launch the program (Stage II will not start)
 
Step 8...  Stage II
This stage will run Silent without any prompts or displays.. a small icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the taskbar will indicate it's progress. Place your mouse pointer over it to see progress percentage.
When this Stage II has completed, it will prompt you to Re-Start your system.. Please allow it to do so.
 
Step 9...  After Re-Start
After your computer has re-started, follow steps below to setup your PDA Device.
  • Select Start

  • Select Programs (All Programs for XP)

  • Locate WorkPDA Utility Tools

  • Select either the Install WorkPDA Utility on Palm or Pocket PC Device. depending on which PDA Device you may have.

  • Follow system prompts to complete installation of PDA Device.

 
  • Synchronize with your PDA Device.

  • Verify that the WorkPDA Application has been installed on your PDA device.

  • You will not see the Work Orders or Contacts forms until you download from the WorkPDA Interface Utility within ProServe II.
