v3.06a - 10/20/2008 Update
This release is FREE to current v3.05d users..
Update Features
1) NEW – Custom Frame Project Feature. You can now setup a “Miscellaneous Item” as a “Custom Frame” type. During order entry this type of item will trigger a new line item order entry screen; this screen is designed with TABs of the basic types of components required for custom frame projects. Artwork, Mats, Moulding, Fillets, Glass, Backing and Other. The item entry is very much like the current ProFrame screen except this one has entry fields for left, top, right and bottom margins for mats and widths for moulding and fillets. The chop dimension is still there but is not required unless you need to lock it. ProFrame will calculate all chop dimensions for you based on artwork, mat margins and frame widths. It’s very much like the retail programs except its design is still based on the wholesale side of this industry instead of retail. In other words, you still enter item numbers for glass, mats, moulding etc… just like you always have. This new feature allows for multiple mats starting with top mat first, multiple moulding, liners and fillets starting with inside frame first.
This new feature flows through ProFrame as a single line item within a work order, sales order and invoice as is. When creating a custom frame project, ProFrame calculates sale price and cost based on components required and then passes that information back into the “MISC” line item that triggered this new feature. You control pricing, discounting and quantity at the current line item entry of ProFrame for that entire project. That’s the idea of setting up “Miscellaneous” items as Custom Frame type items. The description of that “MISC” line item during order entry becomes the title of the custom frame project. So with that said, you can have multiple custom frame projects per ProFrame work order.
Discounting During the order entry of Custom Frames, the current discounting structures do not apply. But you can setup the main Custom Frame Items using the current discounting structures. Example: Setup a Catalog for Custom Frame Items, and then assign that catalog to your MISC Custom Frame items. Both the Customer and OnSale discounting structures will allow a new Type “Type = Custom Frame” so discounting for this type works just like Unit type discounting. So you could setup a discount for Custom Frame Projects based on quantity breaks.
The “Custom Frame Project” components are stored in a new work order file separate from the current ProFrame work order file system. So it has its own report forms when printing work orders and components list. After order entry of a work order, ProFrame will prompt user to print “Custom Frame Project” work orders if any exist on that order. It also has its own Chop Label Form, different from the current Chop Label. It also has its own options on the Company Setup screen of copies and extra chops.
With this new feature comes a new “Open Projects Inquiry” report program very much like the current Open Items Inquiry program. This allows you to view and print open work order project reports by component type. This feature also allows users to Confirm items as done so they no longer show up on this report. Each Component Type has its own report form that can be customized to fit your needs. This report also includes non-project type line items (current ProFrame open orders), this allows you to print both the new project components and current open work order items together by component. This new feature incorporates into some current ProFrame reports with filter options, since all projects are passed through sales as “MISC” line items, project component line items are skipped by default on sales reports. But on reports like open allocation and open item inquiry all project components are included.
2) NEW – In-House Projects. By utilizing the new “Custom Frame Project” feature, you can now create In-House Project work orders by turning On or checking On a new “In-House” option during work order creation. This new feature uses the same idea or technique as creating Custom Frame Projects (MISC Custom Frame Type Items). The idea is to setup as many In-House customers as needed for creating In-House projects. Like customer name “MISC In-House-01” and “MISC In-House-02” etc… Then use these special customers when creating In-House Projects. This way you can use the natural flow of ProFrame to track In-House projects by customers. During the Custom Frame Project order entry a special section used for In-House projects allows you to enter the “Finished Product” item number. (this can be any Unit type item in ProFrame inventory) The rest is just like the new “Custom Frame Projects” and flows through ProFrame the same way except when posted; the on hand of the finished product is added to and the project components are relieved from inventory. ProFrame will post this type into the SO side but not in the AR side.
3) NEW – Inventory Kits. This new feature allows you to setup “MISC” type items as Kit Type items. During Inventory File Maintenance a new Tab called “Kit” has been added and allows user to setup inventory item components that makeup this “Kit”. This type item flows through the order entry as is but any kit components are printed on work orders under the KIT item. Kit components do not print on invoices, only the single MISC Kit item prints. As orders are posted, kit components are relieved from inventory. Just like the new Custom Frame Projects, Kit components are included on open allocation and open items inquiry / projects reports. |
